Hamilton Academicals Football Club made in history in the summer of 2004 when they became the first UK top league team to install an artificial grass pitch as their stadium playing surface. Previously, artificial grass training pitches had been widely used across the UK at clubs such as Liverpool, Chelsea, Rangers, Newcastle and Arsenal amongst others. The surface passed all UEFA and FIFA testing requirements and is now embraced by the Scottish Football Association as a quality playing surface.
