New Dawn for Commercial Team
With a service to the company spanning more than two decades, Alastair Scott is retiring as Sales Director of Bonar Yarns. Commenting on his departure from the company, Alastair mentioned the many great memories he will take with him: "With retirement looming, I am looking back on my 42 years in the Dundee textile scene; having been involved with jute manufacturing right through to today's production of modern synthetic yarns. I have seen a seismic change and this itself is confirmation that Dundee and Tayside, as a textile centre, has indeed kept at the forefront of technological advances in the industry. Looking back to when I first started with Bonar Yarns in 1988, sales have grown fourfold in these twenty years; peaking at a turnover in excess of £20M. A small yarn producer has changed into a major player in the artificial grass and woven carpet industries worldwide. Wherever I have travelled, I have always looked to highlight the Dundee - City of Discovery Association; from Shanghai to Sydney, Dalton to Barcelona. The highlights would include amongst others, the Scottish Export Award for Industry in 2004, Bonar's first Scottish Night at the FSB exhibition in 2005 and the first Superbowl played on Bonar Yarns in 2006. Of course, I have also met many many memorable characters on my travels and the great memories of ‘networking' after hours will remain with me for a very long time." Alastair will continue working on dedicated projects through to March 2009, including the Synthetic Turf Council in USA. Everyone at Bonar Yarns thanks Alastair for his tireless service over the last twenty years and wishes Alastair all the very best for a long and happy retirement. |
