Hockey

Bonar grass yarns' knit-de-knit qualities have been used successfully worldwide in alternative systems to the traditional wet laid hockey fields made from nylon fiber. The 2000 Olympics in Sydney was the first major competition played on polyolefin yarns and more clubs are considering this option because of the "player friendly" feel to the surface, the durability and the cost effectiveness of the pitch compared to nylon. Ball roll is fast and makes for a skilful game. The standard sand filled hockey pitches give a cost effective, durable and regular playing surface, on which many young hockey players begin their careers.

Bonar grass yarns are put to good use locally at the Dundee International Sports Complex, where both a sand based and a water based hockey pitch are extensively used across all competition levels. Bonar Yarns and Fabrics are proud sponsors of Stourport Mens Hockey team and Dundee's very own champions, Bonagrass Grove Ladies team.
